The Riviera is

the coast extending from the Gulf of La Spezia in Italy to Cannes in France and is divided into the French Riviera and the Italian Riviera.

The Riviera originally referred to only the coast of the French Alpes-Maritimes, but with increasing numbers of visiting tourists, the area from Cannes to Nice, Monaco and Monte Carlo came to be known as the French Riviera, while Genova’s eastern coast, the Riviera di Levante and the western coast, the Riviera di Ponente, became known as the Italian Riviera. This coast stays relatively warm even in the Fall and is popular for its abundance of year-round tourist attractions including the Cannes Film Festival, Carnaval de Nice, Monte Carlo Casino and Sanremo Music Festival.

Hotel Riviera is named for the Riviera due to its reputation as a famous international destination for tourism and leisure.
